TERMS OF USE

The rules of the road, kept short.

This page covers how you can use this site and our published research, what applies when you make a donation, and the standard legal disclaimers that come with publishing policy work in public. We've tried to write it in plain language rather than dense boilerplate.

LAST UPDATED: SEPTEMBER 2026 · EFFECTIVE ON PUBLICATION

By using this site you agree to these terms. H1 Foundation is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) nonprofit incorporated in Delaware — you'll see that noted in the footer of every page.

Using this site

You're welcome to browse, read, and reference anything here for personal, journalistic, academic, or policy purposes. You agree not to misrepresent an affiliation with H1 Foundation, attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to the site, or use it to distribute malware or spam.

Our research and published content

We publish openly because policy work behind a paywall doesn't get used. Unless a specific publication states otherwise, research briefs, working papers, and policy packages in our Library are available under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) — share, adapt, and build on them for any purpose, including legislative use, as long as you credit H1 Foundation. Our name, logo, and site branding are not covered by that license.

Take the research and use it. Just don't put our name on conclusions we didn't reach.

Not professional advice

Our publications reflect our best independent research at the time of writing. They are for informational and policy-development purposes only — not legal, financial, or investment advice. Anyone relying on our work should apply their own judgment and consult a qualified professional where appropriate.

Office Hours submissions

Submitting a question through Office Hours doesn't guarantee a response or a published video. We may decline, combine, or lightly edit questions for length and clarity before answering them, and we may publish a video answering your question publicly. See our Privacy Policy for what information may appear alongside a published answer.

Donations

Donations are processed by Donorbox and its underlying payment processor; by donating you also agree to their terms. Donations are generally non-refundable once processed — if you believe a charge was made in error, contact us within 14 days and we'll work with you in good faith. Recurring gifts can be cancelled at any time through Donorbox or by emailing us. H1 Foundation is a recognized 501(c)(3), so donations are generally tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law; consult your tax advisor for guidance specific to your situation.

Warranties, liability, and governing law

This site and its content are provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, H1 Foundation is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this site or reliance on its content. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the organization evolves. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. Questions can be sent to info@h1f.org.
